Apparently, criminals have resorted to pushing their personal items such as handphones and wallets into the bags or pockets of unsuspecting persons, then accuse these persons of pickpocketing them and demanding compensation to settle the issue.
Warnings of such incidents have been circulating on social media.
The perpetrators reportedly strike in crowded places such as bus stops, train station and the airport.
Victims, when challenged, are said to give in and offer them cash out of fear.
Police have advised those who have fallen prey to the scammers to bring them to the nearest police station and let police settle the matter.
So if you’re on holiday in Kuala Lumpur (even though June holidays are over and its time to get your lazy ass back to work) do watch out for such criminals and let the Malaysia matas handle any disputes.
