High-End Prostitutes and the Price the Rich are Willing and Able to Pay to Satisfy their Kinky Fetishes

RONALD LEE: Some people like former S$16,000-a-month MP David “Amorous Botak” Ong would just go for one of their grassroots volunteers. But if you’ve got the cash to splash and a fetish to satisfy, why not go for more?

Many were stunned by the arrest of the Russian and Uzbek prostitutes and their pimp in raids last week across Cairnhill, Raffles Boulevard and Tanjong Katong – with a Bella Casita condo unit in TK suspected of being their base of operations.

Stunned not so much by their price – a whopping S$500 an hour at minimum – but by why anyone would, in the words of one netizen, “pay so much money for this kind of kong ba bao when they can find cheaper and better China girls? Just close your eyes and imagine they are kim moh la.”

Kong ba bao refers to a fatty meat bun, and the S$500 an hour minimum rate is 4 to 5 times the market rate for prostitutes here, according to some Geylang old birds (you know who you are, I won’t tell your wives so don’t worry).

It appears that the price premium is, unlike infant milk powder, not due to marketing costs. Rather, it’s because they can fulfil strange desires in the bedroom. Two of the Russian prostitutes arrested were reportedly engaged in a 4-some orgy with 2 clients, which is supposed to be one of the “specialty” services they promoted. So it’s not so much about what you look like as long as you’re presentable enough, but what you can do.

And yeah, you only get to fulfil such fantasies if you’ve got the dough, and with Singapore’s state of income inequality, only a select group of rich kids and uncles can afford to do this.

Another cause for the cost is discretion. According to interviews with high-end prostitutes, their main clientele comprises doctors, lawyers, bankers and the likes – in short, atas working professionals who can’t risk being seen in some shady part of Geylang or Chinatown.

And since, according to these interviews, such high-end prostitutes rely on word of mouth recommendations (kind of like home contractors and plumbers), there’s got to a closed group of these rich kids and uncles fooling around and spreading the word in their little circle. Police seizures have possibly uncovered their client list, so who knows we may find another Swiss banker or Shaw son like in the highly-publicised underaged prostitution case some years back.

Of course, the premium price also includes the exclusiveness of bonking someone that the average Singaporean can’t afford, and the belief that they are “cleaner” since less people have access to them.

It’s not illegal to engage prostitutes in Singapore, though it is unlawful for them to publicly solicit clients. It is also against the law to live on the earnings of a prostitute. Can we be certain none of those rich kids and uncles received any kickbacks from recommendations to their pals? That’s really something the police look into.

I for one don’t engage prostitutes and even if I did, I wouldn’t recommend that kong ba bao caught by the cops to any of my friends. Not fat-shaming here, but I don’t think my sub-1.6m frame could handle those rich love handles.
