Anaplan’s Asia Pacific Managing Director, Samir Neji, has declined to re-contest in Bukit Batok SMC.

Mr Samir fought valiantly in Bukit Batok in GE2015 as an independent candidate, and won a hefty 0.6 percent of the votes there without holding a single rally.

His refusal to contest a second time round has greatly boosted the hopes of the SDP, which has declared its intention to field a candidate when a by-election is called.

The Bukit Batok MP position is now vacant after former PAP MP David Ong resigned.

The passionate botak is believed to have stepped down after his affair with a married lao chio grassroots volunteer, Wendy Lim, was exposed.

Besides the SDP, DPP chief Benjamin Pwee has also hinted that the party might send a candidate to Bukit Batok.
