It’s still a month till the new year, but the Auld Lan Syne has come early for the Workers’ Party’s Lee Li Lian, who has bade a wistful farewell to Punggol East after handing over the reins yesterday (1 Dec).

Renovations are now taking place and the new Punggol East Town Council is slated to start operations on 22 Dec.

The break from the former Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council comes as the PAP’s Charles “Lucky” Chong beat Ms Lee in the September General Elections.

Mr Chong has said he request that the National Development Ministry release grant money to Punggol East Town Council now that it is no longer part of AHPETC.

Commenting on Facebook, Ms Lee said:

“Made my last visit to TC on Sat. I was there to pack the last bit of my stuff from my cubicle. Lots of pictures, lots of stuff, lots of memories.

AHPE TC will be history. PE TC will be handed over from 1st Dec 2015. A big thank you to staff who went through thick and thin with me. They were employed for PE office when AHPE TC was formed. They are a group of diligent and hardworking people. I’m very very fortunate to have them. A big THANK YOU for all the hard work.

Lastly, I would like to wish the new managing agent and staff all the very best in PE.”
