Not to be outdone by Dr Chee Soon Juan’s “Ji Ba Ban” music video, PAP candidate Murali Pillai has uploaded a video which has him singing another popular Hokkien song, “Ai Bia Jia Yia”.
The full-time lawyer, who apparently can speak 4 languages, was shown on tape singing with a bunch of aunties and men in white, seemingly at a grassroots gathering.
When it came to the “wu see kee, wu see lo (sometimes rise, sometimes fall) part, Murali and co did a little twist on the lyrics, singing “wu see kee, buay sai lo (sometimes rise, but cannot fall)”.
You can watch it here at 42”.
Yeah, it’s only about 4 seconds, but we take it he sang the whole Hokkien gua with the gang.
It’s unclear when the video was recorded, and we can only hope to see the full Murali karaoke video published for posterity (and of course, entertainment).
The contest is heating up between Dr Chee and Mr Murali.
It’s a race down to the line for the SDP chief and his adversary from the PAP, for the hearts and minds of voters as we go into the hustings for the by-election in Bukit Batok.
Polling Day has been set for 7 May.
