Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will reshuffle his Cabinet come May.
And it looks like Ng Chee Meng could be headed to the National Trades Union Congress as its next Deputy Secretary-General, with a view to replace Chan Chun Sing as Secretary-General.
That’s according to state media agency, Lianhe Zaobao, which said it was informed of the move by reliable sources.
Wanbao reported today that members of NTUC’s Central Committee have been told of Ng’s move and were asked to support his election as Deputy Secretary-General.
Ng, 49, is currently the Minister of Education (Schools), and Second Minister for Transport, and a move to NTUC would indicate a shuffle in the Education and Transport Ministry.
Chan is currently a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.
The 48-year-old has been tipped as a contender for the Prime Minister’s post.
He was appointed NTUC Deputy Secretary-General in 2015, before eventually replacing Lim Swee Say as Secretary-General.
