30-year-old Ray Reuven Roche Carbolido has been jailed for 12 months after pleading guilty to sexual penetration of a minor.
The sex, which was consensual seeing that the 15-year-old girl had brought along a condom when she visited his home on 19 March this year, came to light after the girl felt pain in her private parts following the encounter and went for a check up at KK Women and Children’s Hospital.
There, she was diagnosed with herpes simplex virus.
The case was then reported to the police.
Investigations revealed that Carbolido had befriended the girl on WeChat.
He asked her if she wanted to have sex and she agreed, and she went to his home in Ang Mo Kio that same night and they had sex.
Besides sexual intercourse, the two also engaged in other sexual activities.
Carbolido had known that the girl was 15 years old, but thought it would be okay to have sex with her as it was consensual.
Carbolido was subsequently arrested by the police and a medical examination showed that there was no evidence that he had any sexually transmitted infection.
The girl confessed that she had had sexual encounters with several men, including Carbolido, from March 19 to 24.
Carbolido could have been jailed for up to 10 years or fined, or both jailed and fined for having sex with a minor.
