First off, young Singaporeans aren’t too happy with the influx of “foreign talent”.
45 percent of Singaporeans polled said they wished to emigrate because there was “too much foreign talent in Singapore”, up from 37 percent in 2010.
Almost half of young Singaporeans say – 48 percent – say that too much foreign talent dilutes the cohesiveness of society, while 56% believe that foreign talent are merely using Singapore as a stepping stone.
Nearly 30 percent of Singaporeans are considering migrating within the next 5 years.
Now the irony:
Nearly 80 percent of respondents preferred being a citizen of Singapore than any other country in the world.
On citizenship, 53 percent said they would not renounce their Singapore citizenship even if they got PR status overseas.
Which means, young Singaporeans don’t like foreign talent don’t assimilate well and are using Singapore for selfish reason, but want to just like the foreign talents they’re unhappy with?
