Usually, there’d be a crowd of Filipino and Indonesian maids borrowing money at this licensed moneylender in Fu Lu Shou Complex.
But yesterday, a 100-strong snaking queue of maids formed up as early as 10.30am, leading to much unhappiness among other storeowners in the building.
The store-owners called the police, complaining of noise, rowdiness, and that the maids were blocking the front of their stores.
Police and security officers subsequently dispersed the group, and the maids had to take queue numbers and wait outside the building.
Store-owners are still puzzled at the reason behind the exceptionally long queue to borrow cash.
