Why did the ah pek cross the road on his e-bike?

Doesn’t matter lah – what matters is that ah pek, 62-year-old Mr Wong, is now in hospital because when he rode his electric bicycle across the road yesterday at around 7.50am, a car smashed into him.

The incident took place at the junction of New Upper Changi Road and Bedok North Avenue 3.

It’s unclear who had the right of way at the time.

An eyewitness heard the crash, and turned around to see the injured ah pek:

“He was lying face-down on the road and his head was bleeding. His electric bicycle was broken into 2 parts. The car’s windscreen was also cracked”.

A man believed to be the driver of the black car was seen on the phone after the crash.

The crash caused traffic congestion and some passers-by were seen helping to direct traffic.

Wong was unconscious when paramedics sent him to Changi General Hospital.

Police are investigating the case
