The stall at Block 449 Clementi Avenue 3 has raised the price of drinks such as Milo Peng and Ice Lemon Tea for S$2.20 a glass.
Hot drinks such as kopi are priced almost similar to other stalls in the area at S$1.10 a glass.
Said one angry long-time customer:
“The usual price of such drinks like Milo Peng is at most S$1.60. How can they increase until S$2.20? This is too much already.”
A stallholder at the kopitiam has complained that the high drinks prices are driving away customers.
He said that the drinks stall had already prices when new management took over in March last year, and this latest hike would be the second price increase in a year.
“Customers starting bringing in drinks from outside but because outside drinks are not allowed they just simply don’t come anymore.”
The drinks stall assistant says the pricing decision is up her boss and she’s just following instructions.
But she did say that compared to glasses from other kopitiams, the stall uses “700ml glasses” instead of 500ml glasses, so customers pay more but also get 40 percent more of their beverage.
