Couple who Bullied Ah Pek at Toa Payoh Hawker Centre Charged in Court

The couple who bullied an ah pek at a hawker centre in Toa Payoh Lorong 8 in in April have been charged in court.

45-year-old Chow Chuin Yee, who barged into the 76-year-old ah pek from behind, was charged with using criminal force.

38-year-old Tay Puay Leng was charged with intent to cause alarm, after she was caught scolding the ah pek using vulgar language.

 
This video of the couple’s bullying ways went viral 3 months ago.

Police arrested the couple 4 days after the incident.

Chow’s neighbours also exposed his past history of bullying ways, while the daughter of then ah pek who was bullied said her father didn’t report the incident to the police because he felt helpless.

The public was so incensed by the bullying incident that a petition was started urging the Ministry of Social and Family Development to take action against the couple.
