“Cut So Deep You Could See Bone”: Hunt is On for the Bedok “Playground Slasher”

Police are on the hunt for the knife attacker who hacked a 25-year-old man yesterday morning (21 Jul).

The slasher is believed to be a young man, around the age of 18.

It’s suspected that the slashing took place after a fight between both men, believed to be friends, turned bloody.

At about 5.22am, the victim had staggered into the hawker centre at Block 538 Bedok North St 3, dripping with blood and shouting that he needed help.

An eyewitness says there was a deep cut on his arm which exposed bone.

The victim’s last finger was nearly chopped off, left hanging by the skin.

The attack is believed to have happened at a nearby playground.

Another eyewitness said that following the attack, the slasher had waved a knife at two youths and shouted that he had just slashed someone and told them to stay away from the hawker centre

The eyewitness described the slasher as a slim-built young man.

The victim was sent to Changi General Hospital before being transferred to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for emergency surgery

Police have classified the case as “voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons”.
