This angry daughter is hoping to harness the power of the internet to hunt down an e-scooter rider who crashed into her mother in Ang Mo Kio yesterday.

Sharon Sim said that as a result of the crash, her mother’s face was scarred “permanently and prominently”.

Sim said that that culprit’s e-scooter has a “unique design” – the base is a “black frame with red in the middle area”.

The incident took place at the lift lobby of Block 538 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 at about 5.25pm.

The e-scooter rider reportedly didn’t stop to help after the crash.

This is Sim’s full post on the incident:

“If you’re the escooter rider who knocked down an elderly lady at Amk Blk 538 lift lobby on 17 Apr evening, I hope you’ll step forward soon to own up. You’re lucky. My mum didn’t call 999 immediately as she wanted to pick her grandchild from school and didn’t want to be late. You’re lucky. Because my dad is old and couldn’t give ample chase. My mum isn’t so lucky; you’ve scarred her face permanently and prominently. Should u choose to hide, I hope nothing similar happens to your loved ones and that u sleep well at night. By hiding, you’re also smearing the reputation of those who ride responsibly.

(Update: Culprit’s escooter has a unique design. The base is black frame with red in the middle area. We have lodged police report with AMK North branch i.e. the police post near yck stadium. The police has started investigations. They also advised to call 999 immediately for all hit-and-run incidents if you’re a victim or witness to a crime. A few media friends have also picked up my story. Thanks for all your help in spreading awareness.)

(Updated with pics of her injuries. A piece of her skin and flesh came off and will have scar. Swelling expected to be worse past few days. We must catch that irresponsible rider before he does more severe damage!!)

Dear all, calling for witnesses and kind Samaritans who helped my mum during an e-scooter hit-and-run accident that just happened.

Incident details as follows. Police report has been made.

Accident took place at: Outside Blk 538 Amk Ave 5 Lift lobby A
Date: 17 Apr 2018, Tue
Time: 5.25pm

Summary: Mum exited from lift. Turned right to walk towards pick up area. E-scooter knocked her from behind. Both mum and rider fell sprawled onto the ground. Mum cut her nose area, bruises on knee, elbow and ribs. Mum grabbed rider when he tried to run off. Five ITE students were nearby (3 boys 2 girls) then attended to her and bought plaster from downstairs shop. Rider didn’t help at all. Mum grabbed rider to prevent him from escaping but he rode away quickly. Rider seen riding towards common rubbish chute area near Blk 537 and 533 after the accident. Dad gave chase and last saw rider riding towards junction of Ave 3 where Amk Police Station was located.

Description of rider: Wearing black full face helmet. No spectacles. Black and red t-shirt. 3/4 jeans. Escooter’s base has a black outline and red in the centre.

The accident took place too fast and everyone was shocked that the rider ran away. Even the students. So looking for help to locate both students (so I can thank them for helping to stop my mum’s bleeding) and the hit-and-run rider. We have to catch irresponsible people!”
