A 23-year-old staff of the Singapore High Commission in India, Patrick Anthony, was killed yesterday when the car he was driving mounted a kerb, crashed through an iron fence and crashed into an electricity pole.
He is believed to have bled to death after suffering from severe head injuries as a result of his head hitting the car’s steering wheel.
The incident took place in Chanakyapuri in West Delhi on Sunday at about 2am local time.
Anthony is suspected to have been driving drunk and speeding when he lost control of his car.
His wife, 21-year-old Sonal Gupta, was with him in the car at the time and was sent to hospital with severe injuries.
Before the crash, the couple had attended a party at the Singapore embassy in the region.
