Giant Accused of Selling Expired Powdered Milk for Pregnant Mothers

Make sure you check your expiry labels when shopping at the supermarket.

Giant supermart has been accused of selling expired S-26 Mama milk powder.

One netizen has even produced a receipt for the purchase of the milk power dated 1 May 2015, when the milk power supposedly expired on 21 Apr 2015.

But concerned parents, fret not.

Powdered milk can be stored indefinitely, despite its “best-by” date.

Powdered milk is real milk that has been heated so that about half of the milk solids evaporate.

The shelf life of powdered milk is mainly influenced by its exposure to heat and moisture.

To maximize the shelf-life, store your powdered milk in a dry environment or consider freezing it.

Discard any powdered milk that develops an off odor or yellow coloration – these are signs that the milk has finally gone bad.
