Grab ambassadors have been spotted at a taxi stand at Resorts World Sentosa, allegedly touting the benefits of using the private-hire car service, and directing commuters to use it rather than hail a taxi.

Taxi drivers have condemned the move, saying that it’s making the playing field even more lop-sided.

Jason Tan, who snapped this picture, said it’s unair of Grab to “steal business” in this way:

“Now grab have authorise can come to the taxi stand to ask passengers to take grab car soon later in Singapore all is grab car no more taxi already can LTA do something about this a not?”

The move might be Grab’s way of promoting its services at taxi stands – where private-hire Grab drivers are not allowed to stop their vehicles and wait for pick-ups.

Or, it might even be a form of retaliation, after ComfortDelGro asked its taxi drivers to bao toh private-hire drivers who use taxi stands to pick up passengers.

There are currently upwards of 50,000 private-hire car drivers in Singapore.
