Disgraced former SCDF Major Poh Siok Peng has been jailed for 5 weeks after he was convicted on two charges of insulting the modesty of a woman.

The 45-year-old had, over a 2-year period, taken multiple upskirt videos of a SCDF colleague who was 20 years his junior.

But Ex-Major Poh’s sentence could have been longer, if not for Judge Kessler Soh’s calling for a middle ground between the prosecution and defence.

Prosecutors had called for a 6-week jail term, while Poh’s lawyer urged the court to impose a fine or a jail term of less than 4 weeks.

Siding with the defence, Judge Soh said that an in-between sentence of 5 weeks was appropriate because the degree of intrusion was not high, as the victim wore “safety pants” and her panties or private parts were not captured on video.

But, Judge Soh also took into account that Ex-Major Poh’s upskirt antics were premeditated and abused the victim’s trust.

Poh would frequently drop by the victim’s desk to “chat”.

That’s when he would try filming upskirt videos of the victim using his handphone.

Poh would later go home and watch the videos at night to “relive stress”.

He was caught red-handed trying to film in between her thighs in a sting operation orchestrated by the victim, after she saw a light flash under her desk one day.
