Law Kar-Ying Lookalike Steals Thousands from Temple Using Belt Coated with Sticky Tape
A 69-year-old man resembling veteran Hong Kong actor Law Kar-Ying has been charged for stealing money from donation boxes at a Buddhist temple in Paya Lebar.
He allegedly inserted a belt taped with double-sided tape into donation boxes and made off with thousands of dollars.
CCTV footage from the Kim Hong temple on 23 May caught the lao hero in the act.
The temple became suspicious when they emptied donation boxes last week and found only a few notes inside.
Reviewing the CCTV footage, temple staff discovered that the lao hero had been stealing money from the donation box several times a month from as early as March.
The lao hero was arrested last Wednesday (30 May).
If convicted of theft, he can be sentenced to up to 3 years jail, or a fine, or both.
