Lorry Kills 3 Pedestrians at Yio Chu Kang; Driver Complained of “Blurry Vision”

A lorry crashed into 3 pedestrians this morning near Yio Chu Kang MRT station this morning, killing them on the spot.

The 25-year-old driver, Singaporean Xu Kai Xiang was sent to Khoo Teck Puat hospital for treatment.

There, he told his father that his vision had “gone blurry” before he hit the pedestrians.

Xu had drove the lorry into the pedestrians before smashing it into a stationary bus, shattering its windscreen.

The lorry also toppled a traffic light, of which part of it was seen wedged under the lorry.

The incident took place at about 9.30am.

Said the SCDF in a statement:

“SCDF extricated two pedestrians from underneath the lorry using a rescue lifting airbag. All three pedestrians were declared dead at the scene.”

Police have placed Xu under arrest and are investigating the incident.
