These maids reportedly set up their stalls in the Lucky Plaza area, selling clothes and bags, and services such as haircuts and manicures/pedicures.
Some Lucky Plaza shop-owners say that business is down because the maids undercut their prices by up to 50 percent.
They complain that its unfair competition as the maids do not have to pay rent for their illegal roadside stalls.
The maids usually setup stalls there during their off-day – on weekends from 8am to 1pm.
One Lucky Plaza shop-owner complained that the mall’s management said their hands tied.
“They said the stalls are set up outside of the mall, so there’s nothing they can do.”
The illegal roadside hawking activities reportedly started around 3 months ago.
