Married Couple Plunge to Their Death an Hour Apart from Each Other in Suspected Suicide

Tragedy struck at Block 743 Woodlands Circle yesterday (1 June).

Residents in the vicinity witnessed a man plunge to his death from the 9th floor of the HDB flat.

He landed at a playground near the block.

Some tried to give him CPR, but the 48-year-old couldn’t be saved.

The incident happened at about 6.43am.

An even greater shock came just an hour and a half later.

A 48-year-old woman, said to be the man’s wife, plunged to her death as well, her body caught in a tree.

The couple were pronounced dead by Civil Defence officers.

Officers removed the bodies – even cutting down the tree to remove the body of the woman.

It’s unclear what caused the couple to fall to their deaths.

Police are investigating the incident.

Residents speculate that the couple committed suicide.

Just 5 months ago, a young couple held jumped to their death from a Chinatown building because of financial difficulties.

Their bodies landed next to each other, suggesting that they had hugged or held hands before taking the plunge.
