Personal Feud Fuels Serangoon Samurai Sword Slashing

Police suspect a personal feud led to this slashing incident along Serangoon Road on Wednesday (25 Jul), which saw a 27-year-old man slashed on his body, the back of his head, as well as his arms and legs.

The victim was attacked by with a samurai sword and kitchen knife by 7 other man, who fled the scene in a silver Nissan car.

He was sent to Tan Tock Seng hospital and is in stable condition.

The relationship between the victim and the attackers has not been established.

Police have arrested the 7 men behind the attack.

Yesterday, one of the suspects, 24-year-old Arjun Retnavelu, was brought to Lower Pierce Reservoir, where he is believed to have tossed the samurai sword – wrapped in an orange cloth – into the reservoir.

Two divers from Asia Dive Academy entered the waters to try and retrieve the sword but couldn’t find the weapon after an approximately 2-hour search.

Five of the suspects, aged between 17 and 28, will be charged in court today.
