And a night of partying led to the rogue officer raping and sexually assaulting the 20-year-old lady at Siloso Beach.
Pram Nair met the then-relief teacher when she and a friend went to a beach party at Wave House – a bar at Sentosa.
She had drunk shots of whisky and Cointreau liquor when Nair approached her for a chat.
They played a drinking game, where Nair poured Cointreau liquor directly into her mouth for 20 seconds.
Noticing that the victim appeared “really drunk”, her friend decided they should leave the party.
She went to collect the victim’s bag, but when she returned found that the victim and Nair had disappeared.
The victim testified that she remembered waking up on the sand, while feeling the pain of Nair raping her.
She said she had tried to push him away, but was too weak and drunk.
Two eyewitnesses saw Nair and the victim on the beach, and one of them called the police after he noticed the victim trying to push Nair away.
The victim’s friend, who had been looking for her, found her victim lying on the sand.
The lower half of her body was naked.
Nair had initially said in his statement that the victim had performed oral sex on him, but changed this account during cross-examination and later on reverted to the original statement that she did.
He had also said he found the victim on the beach completely naked and was walking away when he was arrested by police.
The 27-year-old’s lawyers made the case that he couldn’t have raped her because he couldn’t get an erection even though he wanted to have sex with her.
The incident took place in 2012.
Nair has been convicted of rape and sexual assault, and is awaiting sentencing.
