A man from Singapore appears to be the latest victim of Mycafe durian white coffee.
This comes after reports that 5 people in Malaysia were hospitalised after consuming the instant coffee drink.
43-year-old Mdm Tay, who lives in Ang Mo Kio, paid about S$5.00 for a bag of the durian white coffee.
Her husband would drink one sachet of the coffee a day.
She said that after drinking the durian white coffee for about 3-4 days, her husband suddenly suffered from bouts of vomiting.
Mdm Tay said that her husband also experienced a faster heart rate and higher than usual blood pressure.
She tried the coffee for herself to see what it was like:
“The coffee was very sweet and tasted strongly of durian, but didn’t have much coffee flavour.”
Five persons in Malaysia were hospitalised recently after drinking the durian white coffee.
One of them reportedly fainted after drinking the instant coffee drink.
Among other symptoms reported were quickened heart rate, and high blood pressue.
In the face of reports Coffee Tree, which produces the Mycafe durian coffee drink, said that it is “confident” that its products are “suitable for all”.
“No one has turned up to complain about the product. We only got to know about the incident via social media.”
