The sole suspect in the Sungei Kadut slashing which killed Jiji furniture company director Lin Xinjie was a good worker and was dating a colleague from his hometown when out of the blue he started behaving out of character.
22-year-old Yee Jing Man, a Malaysian working for Jiji, allegedly killed Lin with a chopper and injured another company director on Monday (10 Mar)
The incident took place between 12.55pm and 1.03pm, when Yee’s girlfriend was out having lunch with a colleague.
This was revealed by Jiji’s third company director, known as “Mr Pan”.
Pan said that Yee, an Ipoh native, was a good worker who could do the job of two men.
He was known as a quiet person and responsible person, and even got into a steady relationship with a colleague who was also from Ipoh.
However, said Pan, Yee started acting out of character some time in 2018 and began to skip work.
One time in March 2018, he was absent for several days and asked for more time off.
“He said that he had difficulty sleeping and couldn’t come to work.”
Yee was served with several warnings.
However, he said, Yee’s work performance continued to be poor and his son decided to fire for the second time.
Yee has been charged with murder and is facing the death penalty.
