15-year-old Bryan Chee of Loyang Secondary School has died after collapsing during a fitness test.

The teenager fainted in school yesterday afternoon at about 4.40pm.

The school quickly called for an ambulance and he was to Changi General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Bryan’s father said that his son had a congenital heart defect and was attending regular check-ups.

On Facebook, his aunt Agnes Tan wrote a touching in memoriam:

“I still cannot accept cannot believe what has happened to our family today. It came too fast, too tough, too pained for us to accept it. Someone dear to me who I watched him grow from an infant to a young handsome chap just left us today out of a sudden.”

“I can’t face this reality,” she said, “Can’t hear his voice, calling me ‘third auntie’. My heart is aching.”

Byan was known to love basketball and was part of the school’s basketball team.

His father said that due to his condition, doctor’s had advised him that it was okay to exercise but not to engage in physical activities for too long a period.
