Amongst the prizes -S$40 worth of petrol vouchers… and a plush toy!
The initiative is part of the “Spot the Conscientious Motorists” program which was launched in October 2013 to reward good road manners.
Since the start of the program, 391 motorists have been commended for their good driving habits such as signalling early, and giving way to other vehicles.
Yesterday alone (8Jan), traffic police officers commended 7 drivers.
Mr Toh Teck Hui, a taxi driver, shared his sentiments on being pulled over.
“When the traffic police stopped me I got a shock and I was wondering what happened. Earlier, there were two pedestrians crossing and then suddenly someone riding a bicycle as well, and I let them go. Then the traffic policeman stopped me. He said I had a good spirit.”
So remember to give way to that Honda Civic the next time you’re on the road. You might just get a toy from Santa Cop.
