Havoc on the PIE stretch near Clementi Avenue 6 en route to Changi on the first day of Chinese New Year (28 January).

The driver of a white van which was in the left lane saw monkeys suddenly chiong out in front of him an stepped on the brake to avoid running over them.

Because of that, his van skidded from the left lane all the way to the right lane.

A 37-year-old RSAF staff was riding his motorcycle at the right lane at the time.

He couldn’t brake in time and as a result was rammed by the van and thrown off his bike.

The monkeys were unharmed, but our poor RSAF pal had to be rushed to hospital with serious injuries, including a hip fracture, shoulder wounds and breathing difficulties.

Doctors say he was lucky to have survived, and could have been paralysed.

Police are investigating the incident.

Hope the soldier is OK by now.

If I am still airforce chief, sure give at least 3 mths paid leave to this soldier + outpatient treatment, and press charges to van driver.
