Workplace Deaths Jump by 40 Percent!

The number of deaths at work have leaped by a whopping 40 percent in the first half of 2016 compared to the same period last year.

That’s according to data released by the Workplace Safety Institute.

In the first half of this year, there have already been 42 deaths, with the construction sector being the top contributor.

Other sectors that saw an increase in workplace deaths include the marine and manufacturing sectors.

The total number of injuries at the workplace have also increase compared to the same period in 2015 by 140.

Regarding occupational disease, most suffered from noise-induced deafness (226 cases) while sease 141 people reported suffering from work-related musculoskeletal disorders such as back injuries.
