A double-whammy for this young cleaner – after a quarrel with her boyfriend, she got robbed of her cash and jewellery while she was still simmering.
The incident took place at the Basement 3 level of the Toa Payoh HDB Hub carpark at about 3am on Sunday (12 Aug).
The victim, a 27-year-old Malaysia native who works as a kopitiam cleaner, was walking alone at the carpark when she was robbed by a man wielding a knife.
Police revealed that the robber was a 61-year-old Malay man.
The robber took from her S$2500 in cash, RM600 (S$168) and a gold necklace worth S$3000.
CCTV at the carpark caught the robber in action and he was swiftly arrested.
The robber was charged in court today and could face up to 10 years in jail and 12 strokes of the rotan if convicted.
