But yesterday, calamity struck as the 29-year-old worker, an Indian national, fell from the rooftop of a HDB block in Bedok while he was working.
Police were alerted to the incident at Block 662 Jalan Dami about 9.18am.
The victim was sent to Changi General Hospital, where he later died.
SCDF says he suffered from “traumatic arrest”, meaning his heart stopped beating due to the sudden and hard impact.
The worker’s employer has been instructed to stop all work at height activities within the estates while investigations are taking place.
The area where the incident took place falls under the purview of Aljunied-Hougang Town Council.
It’s the second death involving workers there this year, after a cleaner died when he was caught in a trash compactor in January.
