Traffic Police Officer while Trying to Enforce the Law

Traffic police officer Nadzrie Matin was killed in the line of duty this morning.

The incident took place along Serangoon Road.

Police say 29-year-old staff sergeant was performing patrol duties at around 10.40am when the accident took place.

He was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital but died from his injuries.

Nana Swryn says a colleague of hers witnessed the accident.

Swryn said that SSGT Nadzrie was “chasing a vehicle” when a van hit his motorcycle, causing him to fly off the bike and land in a nearby open field.

The impact left him bleeding severely from the head.

Paramedics who arrived on scene reportedly didn’t manage to revive him.

Police have arrested a 52-year-old man who was the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident with SSGT Nadzrie.

The incident is being investigated.
