19-Year-Old Family Breadwinner Killed after Car Crashes into Her on the Way to Work

Two years ago, this young lady from Shandong, China came to Singapore to find a job and support her family.

She was barely 17 years old.

Last Tuesday (27 Mar), she was cycling to work at about 6.30am when a black car crashed into her.

Wang Yu Ling suffered serious head injuries and was sent to hospital for treatment.

However, Wang died from her injuries despite doctors trying hard for the past 8 days to save her life.

The accident took place in Jurong, at the junction of Chin Bee Road and Corporation Road.

Wang was on her way to work at a firm manufacturing electronic devices.

She was paid S$1200 a month.

Her father, 44-year-old Mr Wang, said he had taken ill over the past year and couldn’t work.

He was relying on the money sent home by his daughter to pay for medicine.

Mr Wang said daughter would scrimp on meals and other daily expenses and send home most of her monthly wage to support him, his wife, and her 13-year-old sister.

“She was very filial. As soon as she finished high school, she went to find a job.”

Mr Wang said that doctors operated on his daughter twice, but her injuries were too serious.

Police investigations are ongoing.
