30% Hike in Premiums of Mandatory Medishield Life

Those with pre-existing medical conditions will have to pay 30% more in Medishield Life premiums for a period of 10 years. That was one of the recommendations unveiled by the Medishield Life review committee. The committee also recommended that current policy-holders will see a rise of up to 3% in premiums.

 

The Singapore government will give up Singaporeans subsidies across 4 years to help adjust to the increase in premiums. Up to two-thirds of the population will receive the subsidies. These subsidies will be withdrawn after 4 years.
