Peak hour congestion continues to reign at the Causeway and Second Link, with clueless Singaporeans blamed for jamming up queues.
On Tues (28Feb), Stulang assemblyman Andrew Chen Kah Eng said in a Facebook post the many Singaporeans try to use the e-gates without possessing an e-passport of MDAC.
As a result, they try and fail repeatedly to get clearance, causing much delays.
This has prompted Malaysians to echo Chen’s view that Malaysia should retain an Malaysians-only automatic customs clearance system to ease the human traffic for the time being until Singaporean travellers get their act together.
The e-gates were open to Singaporeans on 20 Jan this year.
The 20 automatic gates are expected to benefit around 30,000 to 50,000 commuters daily.
