Time to Shame Amos Yee Even More Since the Public Delights in His Pain?

So a 16-year-old boy got disciplined by the law, and large parts of the public wanted blood.

At a moment when millions mourned the death of the late Lee Kuan Yew, this 16-year-old ang moh-accented young punk chose to attack him with vicious online vitriol.

And gleefully display a picture of Lee engaged in butt sex.

Oh, and he insulted Christians too, in a Singapore where some half a million people believe in the religion.

PM Lee didn’t take up Amos Yee’s challenge to dance with him and sue him.

Rather, an incensed public brought the matter to the cops and the courts meted out punishment.

All this is now water under the bridge.

Amos Yee has lost his reputation, possibly his sanity, and most likely his future in Singapore.

So how many more pounds of flesh does the public want to strip from this teenager?

Sadly, it’s from  those older and arguably more mature than Yee.

So much delight in the suffering of one so tender in age.

It makes you wonder how depraved their personal lives must be that they cannot take pride in anything else other than being one-up over a kid who made a mistake and was punished for it.

Oh yes, and who can forget that slap-happy chap, who spend 3 weeks in prison while Amos Yee received a 4 week jail sentence.

Blood has been shed, and undoubtedly, tears from parents who had to face the shame for their son’s behaviour, while watching him get hung, drawn and quartered.

Whether or not Yee brought it upon himself, enough is enough.

Or does anyone desire suicide as the end-all?

Even if forgetting is impossible, it’s time to forgive and help this 16-year-old move forward with his life.

Until he can at least he can collect his CPF lah.
