Lina Chiam: “I May be ‘Old and Less Educated’, but I’ll Never Forsake Potong Pasir!”

The SPP’s Lina Chiam has hit out at her critics who have called for her to shy away from a multi-cornered fight in Potong Pasir SMC.

It’s widely believed that the SPP and the DPP will slug it out in the ward together with the incumbent PAP candidate Sitoh Yi Pin come the General Election.

Mrs Chiam is currently an NCMP, after Mr Sitoh broke the SPP’s close to 20-year grip over Potong Pasir in General Election 2011.

This is Mrs Chiam’s post on Facebook:

“Some people has perceived and taken issue that I, as a woman, older and supposedly with lesser academic qualifications should not contest in a multi cornered fight with better qualified candidates. This is wrong perception.
I will never feel unequal to any challenges.

I have been walking the ground for the past 4 years since becoming an NCMP, been an active parliamentarian and helping Mr Chiam in Potong Pasir when he was an MP for 27 years.
I have already sunk my roots and bonded with Potong Pasir residents long before any candidates.

Potong Pasir was and is still is “My kind Of Town”

I will never FORSAKE Potong Pasir to stand as a candidate in another constituency.”
