PAP Branch Chairman for Hougang SMC Lee Hong Chuang’s Facebook post about how he rushed to the scene of a fire in Hougang has got Singaporeans talking… about whether he is trying PAP comrade Victor Lye for this year’s Wayang King award.
Mr Lee said that he was attending an event in Toa Payoh when he immediately excused himself upon hearing of the blaze at a HDB flat unit.
Photos which he posted online even show him inspecting the wreckage with SCDF officers.
Mr Lee has been criticised for being overly-dramatic, especially since he isn’t a firefighter.
This isn’t the first time that he has been chastised by the public for being over-the-top to put up a big show.
Victor Lye, PAP Branch Chairman for Aljunied SMC, has been flamed in the past for posting photos of himself in the thick of the action at a fire scene with SCDF officers.
Following a whole slew of wayang antics, he was co-opted in 2020 into the PAP CEC – the party’s top decision-making body.
It is uncertain whether his failure to perform bigger wayang antics resulted in him losing his spot in the PAP CEC in 2022.
