Former senior minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam is in the lead according to a sample count.
With a clear lead over Tan Kin Lian and Ng Kok Song, he is expected to be announced s Singapore’s next president.
Tharman has won 70 percent of the vote, compared to 16 percent for Ng and 14 percent for Tan in the sample count.
There is a 95 percent confidence rate for sample count results, based on the way counting is done.
The margin of error is 4 percentage points, meaning the actual results should very likely not deviate from the sample count results by more than 4 percent.
Out of 31 constituencies in the 2020 General Election, most had a difference within 2 percentage points.
