Today’s funeral procession will cover 15.4km, from I am sure many supporters of our late beloved PM Mr Lee Kuan Yew would wish for his political legacy and service to our country to continue with another of his intelligent line of leaders from his family as the best gift for Singapore.
Though PM Lee Hsien Loong has mentioned all his children are not keen on politics for the moment, I think it would be a great service to the country if Mr Lee’s family can continue to render their services to Singapore, even after the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
I propose that PM Lee’s 2nd son, Li Hongyi, would be the most appropriate person to provide continual leadership to the country. I’m sure this is what the late Mr Lee would have wanted.
I think this late Mr Lee’s grandson is the most qualified. In the first place, like his father, Li Hongyi is a scholar and a distinguished SAF officer. Like his father, he also went to one of the top universities in the world. His father studied at Cambridge while he went to MIT. This speaks volumes of his intelligence, undoubtedly, inherited from both his grandfather and grandmother, Mr and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew, both graduates from Cambridge University themselves.
As in the old Malay saying, Li Hongyi has the late Mr Lee’s seeds in him and together with his loyalty and passion for the success, he would do well leading Singapore’s next generation.
In many ways, we see the same kind of fighting spirit in Li Hongyi. Before joining politics, the late Mr Lee was a lawyer for the trade unions, fighting for the many injustice experienced by the workers. We can also see similar fighting spirit in Li Hongyi, fighting for injustice he had seen inside SAF.
While he was a junior officer during his NS days, he saw a fellow officer going absent without leave. After complaining, the errant officer’s supervisors failed to act. Risking charges, he had no choice but to go over his chain of command and sent an email to the Minister of Defence and hundreds of MINDEF HQ personnel to expose the matter. Such fighting spirit to address the injustice encountered is quite commendable. Again, it’s no surprise that Li Hongyi may have inherited such fighting spirit from his grandfather.
I hope to see the Lee Kuan Yew spirit in Li Hongyi, which can help propel Singapore to the next level. We need him to continue his grandfather’s work to help Singapore. Even Mr Goh Chok Tong once commented that the Lee family is an exceptional family. He said that Mr and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew, their children and grandchildren are all quite remarkable.
I believe Li Hongyi would be up to the challenge. I hope Li Hongyi would accept the nation’s calling to step forward and serve. I also hope many Singaporeans will agree with me and encourage him to come forward to serve, like his grandfather and father.

Can you NOT be an idiot. The best person will lead. The position is NOT hereditary. We need the RIGHT leader for the country now, one that will focus as much on the citizen which PAP have failed to do. Fools like you should not be allowed to write anything. Honestly. LEADERSHIP IS NOT HEREDITARY. If you think otherwise then please seek medical help.

So you knew the story of him sending e-mail during his NS days… but did you know that it is also because he was getting punishment from the higher up as a result of the guy that went absent which resulted in sending e-mail to everyone till defence minister. If he didn’t get punishment do you seriously think he will sent all those e-mail??

LOL! What fighting spirit? Skipping straight away to Minister of Defence and HQ personnel. You realised there are at least 3 or more superiors that would follow after his supervisor? Like CO or OC? If they don’t listen to what he said there is still formation commander etc. Fighting spirit straight away to Minister of Defence. Not to mention the letter had 2000 bombastic words writtien. Follow his grandfather indeed.
