This complaint letter was by Jasmine Tan is addressed to Singapore’s Public Service Division.
JASMINE TAN: I would like to raise a complaint to your department as my previous feedbacks to MEWR (Ministry of Environment and Water Resources) did not produce a satisfactory outcome.
I reside along Blks 99-101 Aljunied Crescent which faces the highway. Every other day, we the residents have had to endure vehicle smoke, dust and noise permeating all day and night.
Hence, unable to endure any longer, I spoke with representatives of MEWR which referred it to LTA that redirected it back to HDB & NParks and the issue has been left in limbo since.
Queries to the AGC on why a residential block was allowed to be built so close to an expressway in violation of the law went unanswered.
In view of this new normal era, I hope the government will be more forthcoming in its responses and propose viable solutions to the problems created by not adhering to prescribed legislation.
