VICTOR ONG: Singaporeans are a realistic people. And while the success stories of non-graduates in the news recently were inspiring, these may not change what those in the working class experience at their workplace and observe from their interactions with graduates.
Instead of academic degrees, we should consider having more technical degrees. Recognition of such qualifications is the way to go.
Among blue-collar workers, there will be outstanding individuals who are on a par with or better than the graduates. As long as one can excel in whatever one does, one should have an equal chance.
