The woman at the heart of the “Zara Guard Bullies Blind Woman” debacle has resigned as the ambassador for the Guide Dogs Association of the blind.

35 year-old Cassandra Chiu has resigned from her position as a part-time clients services manager, following the ugly April 10th incident in Takashimaya.

Chiu, also known by her online moniker, “Mama”, had accused the security guard of of being verbally abusive towards her and denying her and her guide dog, Esme, entry into the Zara store.

The guard was removed from his post after the incident blew up online.

A witness, however, said that Chiu’s companion had behaved aggressively towards the guard, which goaded him into behaving likewise.

Chiu has been involved in several clashes with service staff in the past, at a rate of at least one fracas a year.

In all these incidents, she has taken to Facebook to air her grievances.

Chiu’s resignation came hours after the Guide Dog Association said in a letter to the press that it would be investigating the incident.

But this resignation wouldn’t render Chiu jobless – she still runs a counselling business at Tanglin Shopping Centre.
