Night Safari Lions Contract Covid after Contact with Infected Staff

Four Asiatic lions at the Night Safari have tested positive for Covid-19 after they were exposed to staff from Mandai Wildlife Group who was found to have contracted the virus.

Another African lion has also tested positive for the virus.

The lions are being monitored and are expected to make a full recovery.

Experts from the World Organisation for Animal Health say there is no evidence to suggest animals can pass the Covid-19 virus to humans.

However, there have been instances where humans have passed it to animals.

There have been known cases where pet dogs, minks, raccoon dogs and tigers have been infected.
