An 81-year-old man suffered a heart attack and died the same day he took his first Covid-19 vaccine jab.
Jasmine Ng, an Associate Division Director at PropNex Realty, said that her father had taken the jab at the polyclinic yesterday morning (6 Apr) at about 8.30am.
Ng said he appeared to be normal, but at 9pm suddenly went pale, broke out in cold sweat, and complained of breathlessness.
He was rushed to the hospital, but passed away later that night.
According to Ng, the doctor said that his heart had stopped beating and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Ng says that her father had been healthy and strong, and suffered no major illness before taking the Covid-19 vaccine jab.
It is uncertain if the death has been certified to be linked to the Covid-19 vaccine.
Under the Health Ministry’s Vaccine Injury Financial Assistance Programme, a one-time pay-out of S$225,000 will be provided to an individual who dies or suffers permanent severe disability as a result of COVID-19 vaccination.
A one-time pay-out of up to $10,000 will be provided to an eligible individual who is hospitalised requiring care in the High Dependency or Intensive Care Unit but subsequently recovers from medically significant serious side effects.
The government rolled out the Covid-19 vaccination programme earlier this year, starting with vaccination for seniors.
As of 3 Apr, around 1.05 million individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and of these, 468,000 individuals have received their second dose and completed the full vaccination regimen.
