25 Percent of Young Adults in Singapore at Risk of becoming Full-Fledged Siao Langs

The prevalence of poor mental health has increased from 13.4 percent in 2020 to 17 percent in 2022.

Young adults between the age of 18 to 29 had the highest proportion of poor mental health at 25.3 percent.

This was revealed in the National Population Health Survey 2022, released by the Ministry of Health.

Data was collected from around 8000 adults through self-reported household interviews, and health checks of 9000 adults.

Only half of those in the survey indicated that they were willing to seek help from mental health professionals.

The Health Ministry said that the Interagency Taskforce on Mental Health and Well-being is developing a national strategy to strengthen the mental health and well-being of the population.
