The National Development Ministry has blamed the Covid-19 pandemic for delays in the delivery of BTO flats.
In a latest update, it appears that 37 percent of the delayed flats have still not been delivered.
Commenting on the situation, National Development Minister Desmond Lee said that the HDB has completed 58 projects, or 63 percent of those delayed flats, so far.
Some of these projects include Keat Hong Verge and Marsiling Grove
Lee has received much flak for the current public housing situation, which some young Singaporeans have dubbed a “crisis”.
In particular, the high prices of BTO flats and long waiting times till key collection – with some buyers having to wait up to 7 years for their flats to be completed.
Lee has previously said that HDB is on track to launch up to 100,000 flats between 2021 and 2025.
He said that around 2,000 to 3,000 of such flats will be rolled out each year by 2025, similar to pre-Covid-19 levels.
