This 82-year-old ah pek decided he’d just pack all his stuff and move to the void deck of the block he was living in because it was “more cooling” there/
Since mid-2022, Mr Ye has been living at the void deck of Block 26 Sin Ming Industrial Estate Sector A.
The retired cleaner, who worked at the PUB for more than 30 years, said that the fan in his rental flat broke down and the place became very stuffy.
He is supposed to move to a new rental flat by Sept 30 this year as the existing Sin Ming flats are slated to be demolished.
Ye, who is living on welfare, said that he has not moved yet as he has many things to shift to his new rental flat.
He plans to bring them over slowly so as not to trouble others.
Living at the void deck for now does have its ups and downs.
At one point of time, a neighbour threw eggs near the area he slept at, and poured sugar water to attract ants.
However, other neighbours have kindly offered him snacks and mineral water.
