Beware, there are conmen going around impersonating police officers in an attempt to scam you of cash.
The conmen call their victims and claim their bank accounts contain excessively large sums of money and that they are suspects in a money-laundering case.
Then, they instruct victims to log on a fake Singapore Police Force website where victims must key in their credit card, internet banking, and other personal details to help with “investigations”.
The whole thing is a ruse – it’s a scam aimed at acquiring your personal details so scammers can withdraw your money.
The SPF has reminded the public that the official police website is www.police.gov.sg, and that if you encounter any strange asking for personal details, call the police hotline at 1800-255-0000 to confirm whether their story is true.
